About Elisha Ferguson
Elisha Ferguson, the talented singer-songwriter hailing from Nottinghamshire and now based in the vibrant city of London, has carved out a unique niche for herself in the music industry. Her distinctive style seamlessly weaves together elements of folk and contemporary pop, creating a sound that is both refreshing and captivating to listeners. Having embarked on her musical journey while studying at Falmouth University in Cornwall, Elisha honed her songwriting skills in the picturesque coastal town, drawing inspiration from the natural beauty and artistic energy that surrounded her

About the EP:
Elisha's concept for her EP was to symbolize the transition of seasons, starting with Winter Walks released in December 2023 and ending with Time Flew in October 2024. The goal was to craft a collection of music that evokes a positive vibe capturing the essence of each season while also reflecting her own essence. These songs serve as snapshots in time, connecting significant moments of personal growth in her life. The 5-track EP features songs like 'Addicted to The Ocean' and 'Winter Walks'. Recorded by Ferguson in her London house share bedroom, the EP was produced remotely by her longtime collaborator, Edmund Woodiwiss. This project has been a consistent pursuit amidst the challenges and successes of her first year in the city.
About the Tracks
1) Beautiful Moments:
This is the leading track of the EP, which was born out of frustration. Elisha stated that "My memory is a little fuzzy as to when exactly it was created but I want to say March
2021", when she was at the University in Cornwall and she was feeling extremely creatively frustrated with all of the lockdowns due to Covid 19. I was annoyed and on the phone to her mum and had mentioned how she was feeling and that she considered going for a walk, and her mum replied with “Go for your walk” and “fill your boots”. She went for my walk along the opposite riverbank to Penryn Harbour and noticed the sun gleaming through the trees, the still water, the birdsong and then it hit me. Beautiful Moments. Elisha stated that "I rushed home whilst writing lyrics and humming melodies into my phone and had the song finished in about 20 minutes once I got to my guitar. The atmos you hear at the start and end of the song was recorded by producer, Ed along that same walk".
2) Addicted to the Ocean:
Elisha states that she wrote it to be "an Avicii-inspired tropical house song when I was 16/17 and I’d been playing the 2017 version up until the start of this year. I noticed the lyrics weren’t really doing it for me and the song felt a bit directionless." She added that the song isn't really about anyone, but it was "just designed to be an upbeat, slightly steamy summer song for cruising by the coast."
3) Time Flew:
This track was written in October of 2021, Elisha states that she "actually wrote it for a film I was making at uni. A Back to the Future-inspired rom-com about a girl going on a date but every time she sneezed, she jumped forwards in time". This song was meant to represent a film called 'Time Flu' and that it is meant to represent how time can seem to fly when you spend it with the right person. It’s something she didn’t truly experience until this year.
4) Winter Walks: (Christmas Song)
"I wrote this in my dad’s living room with the help of my sister back in October 2022" Elisha states, "I was struggling. I’d left university, moved back to my hometown in Nottinghamshire and I was going through some personal stuff. I needed a pick-me-up. I knew I wanted to write a Christmas song and I wanted to have it done before Christmas". She states that she wrote this song way back in 2018 but never done anything with it because I didn’t think it was any good, when it wasn't, but she loved the phrase “Winter Walks” so she decided to start there. The song took a couple of hours and some extra time alone to work out the kinks but she really loves it. Elisha especially proud of the reference to Fairytale of New York (1988).
5) Land Rovers (Live) - The Bedroom Sessions:
This song as Elisha stated is that "It’s Lo-Fi and if you listen closely at the start, you can hear a siren from a passing emergency vehicle." This song came about from a trip to Cornwall with her partner, when they both used to live in the South-West and it felt like going home. "The feeling of being eaten alive by the city is one which still rears its ugly
head from time to time" Elisha states, "I think it’s safe to say that this is one of my favourite songs I have ever written because it is so honest. It’s raw and it’s everything I was feeling in that moment." She added that this isn't a pre-planned part of the EP which is why this is a bonus track.
What I think about the EP
I love how each song correlates to the seasons, like for instance 'Winter Walks' correlates to the Winter season, 'Addicted to the Ocean' correlates to the Summer season, 'Time Flew' correlates to the Spring seasons, and 'Beautiful moments' can correlate to both the spring and fall seasons.
