About Summerdrive:

Summerdrive is a project composed of multi-instrumentalists; Jake Stam, Matt Montgomery and Tim Coakley, and are based in New York. The group was formed (and debuted) in 2018 with their first EP, 'Wild In Our Ways'. In 2021, they released their sophomore project, 'Be The Change'. They were influenced by their time in New York and Los Angeles, as well as contemporary artists like The Killers, The 1975, Coldplay, and Walk The Moon, the band have found a way to cultivate a sound that’s both nostalgic and timeless.

About the single:

'Shimmer' cover art

This single is guided by retro synths and propulsive percussion, “Shimmer” is an intoxicating single that showcases the bands unique blend of alternative-rock, indie-pop, and 80’s-inspired synth pop. The group stated that “The overarching idea of the song is chasing a feeling that has faded, whether you like it or not. Visiting the places that you’ve been with someone, whether it be a friend or partner, and those places not holding the same meaning as they once did. Ultimately realizing that sometimes it’s out of our control how these things end up.”

What I thought about the single:

This has a "song-of-the-summer" vibe, and can be a song to listen to when you want to reminisce the places where you used to go with your partner or friend.
