About Peri Winkle:

She has been bubbling quietly during the pandemic, but after a near-death acrobatics accident in September, 2021 it has profoundly changed and accelerated the inception of Peri Winkle. Her debut single draws heavily from her close encounter with death and the psychological implications of standing face to face with oblivion.

About behind the song 'Ouroboros':

The song (Ouroboros) is a personal story: an existential bomb about losing every part of who you are just to rediscover yourself

again. Ouroboros is a manifestation of change, of new you meets old you in the eyes of death and rebirth.

What did this song mean to Peri Winkle?

She got into an accident, which had created a tremendous impact on her life, and she has gone through a complete rewire, emotionally, physically, and artistically. During her NDE (which was one of the roughest periods of her Life where she was bedridden for some months suffering a heavy concussion.

She could not use her arms as they were broken, her every sense of self, her sense of home was warped), which occurred after falling 3 meters headfirst into the stage floor, she felt herself fly outside of her body, time froze and stretched infinitely. She felt memories pass though her where she was floating inside a tunnel, an abyss, She was surrounded by love and yet somehow knew it was not her time.

At some point she felt like writing music was her only choice to make sense of what she had experienced. Following her recovery from her near death experience and accident, Peri Winkle has created a mysterious witchy track. She hopes for the people who listen to this song to understand that no matter how dark your pain is, and how much it is masked from the world, do not be shy to speak up and ask for help. It is always there in the most unexpected places.

The song's genre [after collaborating with Peder Kolsung on production (Sigrid)] is a genre-bending sound with tastes of alternative pop, alternative rock, artpop, glitchcore, hyperpop, rap, modern alternative, dark synthpop, electropop, electronic rock, indie, industrial, progressive electronica, satanic electroglitch pop, and experimental near death glitchcore pop. There are lyrics that stood out (along with the meaning behind the song) which is so powerful and is so inspiring in a way that if you feel like something isn't right or if you are in pain, you shouldn't be shy to speak up and ask for help since you might not know where you can find the help.
