About Hillari:

Hillari has a background as a church vocalist, which adds to her authentic and melodic sound in her songs. She gained popularity on the Scandinavian R&B/Soul scene as well as interests in Canada, the UK, and the US. She also had been offered label deals from major labels and distribution companies, which includes Universal Music Group. She has worked with well-known producers and writers across the world. She was featured on a track ‘Innicity Blues‘ as a part of a Norweigan television series “FLUS” on the Norweigan National Broadcasting Channel ‘NRX’. Adding onto the track on FLUS, she has confirmed that three of her songs are premiering on a Netflix show “Gangs of Oslo” (Blodsbødre), which includes the song ‘Desperate Soul’ and is set to be released on Netflix later in the summer. Hillari has performed her unreleased songs in festivals and shows; Blåkkfestivalen in August, 2022 she opened for Mo Ayn in Parkteatret in November, Feminalen musikkfestival which also took place in November, the Sari Not Sari: Sari Sessions Vol. 2 in Toronto back in December of last year and the Ungdommens kulutbryggeri festival that also took place in December. She will be performing in the Havstrøm musikkfestival in March (in Oslo, Norway). She will be releasing a 5-track EP (with the song ‘Desperate Soul’ and 4 others)
‘Desperate Soul’ by HILLARI is out now on all streaming platforms!!

‘Desperate Soul’ showcases Hillari’s vocals and musical abilities, with a sound that is both soulful and contemporary. This song was promoted on TikTok and had reached 900 000 views, 18 000 likes and 20 000 saved as favourites. Hillari stated in a 2-part TikTok video that the song is about “accepting the seasons that you are in and accept the person that you are becoming (surrendering).” and that the song is about “letting go of control, letting go of everything you are idolizing“ which means letting go and stepping out of your comfort zone. This song was produced by Morten Gillebo (a.k.a. Mogilla). A lyric that stands out for me is “When I try to get my sight back on the course, I only find myself so broken, don’t know I was before, where did you go? Desperate Soul, I crawl back and forth just for you.” which can relate to the meaning that Hillari explained in the tiktok video that I mentioned, and the meaning behind the song is so powerful and encouraging to note when listening to it.
