About 'hi, my name is insecure'

This 16-track album is a transformative musical journey showcasing Sam's genre-defying signature sound, described as "emotive songwriter, cinematic pop." With a sweeping range, the album explores love and loss, going beyond. “I wanted to be diverse,” Sam stated. “There are stripped-back moments, but there are big drums and production. At the same time, I realized there was a theme of being insecure entwined with everything I was writing. I’m talking about growing up and becoming a man. I discovered a lot about myself through writing these songs.” Consistently, he put out this series of work, producing popular songs like “lose it all,” “die for someone,” “time will fly,” “numb,” and “dead to me.”
Adding on, this debut album encourages listeners and let them feel like they can own up to their insecurities, and own up to the feelings of feeling insecure or any struggle in mental health and to understand that you can get better and deal with them and accept yourself for who you are.
About the Tracks (listed below):
The 5th track "almost killed me" features ethereal synths layered over a loose electric guitar. The drums intensify the rhythm as the Sam's voice resonates in a memorable and confessional chorus, declaring, "Love is the force that nearly ended my life." Sam stated that “Sometimes when you break up or let go of somebody, it’s as if you’re grieving that person, Your body starts feeling these things and shuts down a little bit. It’s almost like you're dying. You just don’t have the energy to do anything. That’s where it came from.”
The 13th track wrestles with the fear of abandonment, holding nothing back over a delicate riff and punchy beat. During the anthemic refrain, he bravely admits, “I’m scared of losing you.”
The 14th track delivers an impassioned and irresistible tribute to his girlfriend. Sam recalled that this track is about when he first met his partner, and stated that “When I first saw her, I didn’t want to go over to her. She was so beautiful; she was the most angelic person I had ever seen in my life. Two months later when I wrote it, I was thinking, ‘Thank God she talked to me because probably would have never gone up to her.’ It’s a happy and hopeful song.”
The final track of the album opens up about the struggles of mental health. According to Sam, 'alone at a party' is one of his favourites, and he thought that "was such a fitting way of saying, ‘I've made some progress, it might not be the biggest progress and I'm not a finished product yet, but at the very least I'm giving it my best shot.’ If you take one hundred little steps, sometimes that's better than one big step.”
What I Thought About The Album:
I love how Sam poured a lot of hard work into making this 16-track album, and i love how most of these songs can resonate with the listeners from the fear of abandonment to mental health struggles to talking about meeting your partner for the first time.
